50 Years Ago...America's Unspeakable Tragedy

"Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country." This is what John F. Kennedy said in his Inaugural Address in 1961.

50 years ago today, America went into mourning as its young 35th President had his life tragically cut short by an assassin's bullet in Dallas, Texas. This tragedy unfolded on our television sets and on the radio.

This video is from CBS' coverage of the day's events, as posted to YouTube.

It is an unspeakable tragedy that many who were around in 1963 will never forget. This blog entry is being released 50 years to the minute after the announcement was made of JFK's passing. No one told America's story better that day than Walter Cronkite.
